Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accepting applications for our Administrative Assistant for our Psychiatric Mental Health Center. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week/day shift) and benefits become effective the first day of employment. In this role you will provide administrative support of an area's activities with occasional guidance. You will respond to customer needs by consulting with others as appropriate or by following established guidelines. Organizes flow of daily operations to ensure service priorities are met. If you are well organized, polite, and can work independently, this is the ideal position for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a variety of administrative support which may include scheduling, booking travel, expense processing and purchasing.

  • Compiles, coordinate and assist in the collection, processing and submission of data.

  • Prepares reports and other documentation as requested by area.

  • Creates and maintains accurate documents and records.

The Vanderbilt School Based program has been active for approximately 28 years, and currently employs 27 staff within 33 school sites. Our clinicians run independent mental health clinics within elementary and middle schools in Davidson County to clients identified by school personnel and covered by TennCare or Cover Kids (Medicaid) for services rendered. Our mental health clinicians provide individual and group therapy and additional psychopharmacology services are rendered by our Psychiatry Fellows and Nurse Practitioners. Most school based clinicians are assigned to one school; however, at times some clinicians may serve an additional school one to two days a week.

Essential Elements:

  • High School graduate or GED

  • Two years of healthcare or related administrative experience

  • Must be an advance user of Excel and Microsoft Suites

  • Prior front office experience is a plus

Preferred Elements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in customer service

  • Refined interpersonal and team skills

  • Ability to make good decisions; follows policies/procedures

  • Outgoing personality and willingness to assist patients/guest/visitors
