Unit Description:

The Vanderbilt Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Unit is led by Janet Lucas, winner of one of Vanderbilt's highest nursing honors - The Adrienne Ames Transformational Nursing Leader Award. Janet leads a 27-bed unit dedicated to the best possible care for patients with diagnoses of leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell, anemia and solid tumors. The nurse patient ratio for this unit is typically 1:5 with a mix of majority oncology patients and some general medicine patients.

Shift Information

Night Shift: 7PM to 7AM

Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Job requires High school graduate or GED and 0 years of experience or the equivalent.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Job requires High school graduate or GED and 0years of experience or the equivalent.

  • One of the 3 following criteria has to be met:

  • 1 year as a caregiver

  • 2 nd yearnursing student

  • CNA Certification

Preferred or Desirable:

  • Ability to give baths

  • Check vital signs

  • Empty drains

  • Documentation

  • Aiding in daily living
