Your Role:

  • Responsible for consulting with end-users on data needs

  • Developing and refining data analytics/reporting requirements

  • Creating reports to pull data from multiple enterprise systems that ensure successful delivery of data to end-users

  • Responsible for analyzing data requests to determine availability of data and optimal methods for resulting datasets

Position Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience or the equivalent

  • Familiarity with reporting SQL, Business Intelligence, Business Object, Oracle Business Intelligence

  • Experience in Tableau Development and dash boarding


  • Knowledge of active directory and role based security

  • Familiarity with HR systems such as People Soft, SAP Success Factors, Taleo, and others

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Coordinates fulfillment of end user requests for database warehous based data queries

  2. Interviews end users to determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance

  3. Translates requirements into technical specifications

  4. Identifies and assesses potential data sources

  5. Recommends appropriate scope of requirements

  6. Validates that the data warehouse meets requirements and service level agreements

  7. Coordinates prototype reviews

  8. Develops and implements tools or applications for accessing and analyzing data and metadata

  9. Works with managers and functional analysts to understand and prioritize user requirements

  10. Writes or works with business intelligence tools and analytic applications that let end users access and analyze data in a data warehouse or mart

  11. Customizes tools and data sets for use by different types of data consumers

  12. Develops business-oriented metadata definitions

  13. Designs and develops training for end users

  14. Prepares and presents frequent quality, statistical, and operational reports including analysis of progress toward program/project goals. Investigates and reports on quality data to analyze indicators and trends in areas of interest

  15. Uses a broad knowledge of Vanderbilt's databases and systems

  16. Employs generally accepted clinical quality practices in analyzing institutional data and external benchmarking data

  17. Uses a broad knowledge of health care operations

  18. Uses excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills

  19. Assists with planning and implementation of data identification and ETL process

  20. Develops process analysis when necessary

  21. Assists with data validation processes

  22. Liaisons with functional data representatives to ensure data validation results meet their requirements

  23. Serves as project leader

  24. Plan, schedule and coordinate activities related to data warehouse development in obtaining solutions to complex problems

  25. Assign work

  26. Establish work task priorities

  27. Instruct and train in methods and procedures

  28. Provides technical assistance to users

  29. Provides expert level support for problem determination and resolution

  30. Provides innovative solutions to working within the constraints of environment

  31. Is up-to-date on emerging techniques and technologies

  32. Ensures integrity and security of institutional data

  33. Follows change management procedures

  34. Adheres to confidentiality and security policies and procedures

  35. Tests and verifies accuracy of data

  36. Provides adequate security through identification of user types in conjunction with the user department
