Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry is accepting applications for the Mental Health Clinician II, School Based Clinic. In this role you will perform diagnostic assessment and therapeutic treatments under occasional guidance. You will also maintain contact with family and community agencies and makes referrals. Additionally, perform supervisory functions for staff/students and routinely offers support/coverage for departmental needs. This position follows the School Year calendar (August-May) of each year and salary is based on years of experience. You will receive pay during the school year and will be placed on leave of absence during the summer. During the summer, you will not receive any payment--you salary will be paid over the 10 month school year.

Additional job tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to p roviding clinical services to patients; completing paperwork accurately and in a timely manner; maintaining productivity; and performing administrative functions in a competent and timely manner

The Vanderbilt School Based program has been active for approximately 28 years, and currently employs 27 staff within 33 school sites. Our clinicians run independent mental health clinics within elementary and middle schools in Davidson County to clients identified by school personnel and covered by TennCare or Cover Kids (Medicaid) for services rendered. Our mental health clinicians provide individual and group therapy and additional psychopharmacology services are rendered by our Psychiatry Fellows and Nurse Practitioners. Most school based clinicians are assigned to one school; however, at times some clinicians may serve an additional school one to two days a week.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree (Psych, Counseling, Social Work or related field)

  • Two years of experience in counseling/social work

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker and/or Licensed Professional Counseling

  • TN Licensure

Preferred Experience:

· Experience working with children and adolescents

· Experience working with underserved populations

· Experience working in Metro Schools

· Computer skills proficiency

· Effective leadership skills
