Department/Unit Summary

Your Role:

  • You will assist our clients in selecting merchandise and properly recording it on our cash register system.

  • Assist in the general store functions including: cleaning and straightening, pricing merchandise, keeping work areas neat and organized, and protecting our inventory.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Assist customers on sales floor and at customer service stations

a. Recognize needs with regard to merchandise location, pricing, and selection

b. Handle customer problems efficiently and politely to the customer's satisfaction

  1. Ensure sufficient stock levels, appropriately priced for customer satisfaction

a. Conduct inventory of stock on a regular schedule as established by the buyer

b. Maintain accurate inventory records

c. Recognize reorder needs

d. Notify buyer and assist in placing reorders

e. Assist in identifying and processing merchandise to be returned to vendor for credit

f. Assist in receiving and pricing incoming merchandise

g. Notify buyer of any discrepancies

h. Assist in repricing stock such as markdowns, markups, etc.

i. Maintain accurate records of price changes, etc.

  1. Ensure accuracy of purchase transactions

a. Perform customer purchase transactions quickly and accurately

b. Count and balance cash register till as necessary

  1. Process special orders

a. Receive and process mail and phone orders promptly

b. Correspond with customers as needed to ensure satisfaction

c. Handle special order, general books, calculators, small electronics, etc. following standard procedures

  1. Ensure work environment meets departmental objectives

a. Maintain attractive retail store in order to achieve merchandising objectives

b. Maintain clean and orderly stockrooms and work areas to facilitate sales and stocking activities

Position Qualifications


  • Job requires High school graduate or GED and 6 months of experience or the equivalent.


  • Great Customer Service Skills

Position Shift:

  • Work hours vary with rotating holidays and weekends.
